I was born in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico and raised in Durham, NC. I have been working with Duke Health since July of 2019, where I started as a patient service associate at The Duke Eye Center. I am very excited to be a part of the DukeWELL team and continue my career at Duke.
I joined the Duke Health System in 2020 as a Patient Service Aide, Team Lead for the Screening Services at Duke University Hospital. I am excited to be a part of DukeWELL and the outstanding PHMO team as a Care Coordinator! I have been in healthcare for about 4 years and am truly passionate about helping people. I look forward to being able to help coordinate referrals for members of our community to cost-free resources that will benefit their well-being!
I have been employed by Duke for over 20 years. I began my career in the Undergraduate Financial Aid Office in August 2000. I transitioned to the Duke Talent Identification Program in October, 2013. In January 2021, I started a new career in Population Health as a Care Coordinator. I look forward to making a difference in the overall health of the patients and communities Duke serves.
I relocated to NC in 1985 from Long Island, NY where I was born and raised. I have over 20 years of customer service experience in four different industries. My passion is helping people. I graduated from Fayetteville State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I enjoy watching sports and listening to old school hip hop, R & B, jazz, and gospel music.
Feeding my spirit before my day fully starts keeps me motivated and upbeat. In my current role, the most exciting thing for me is being able to connect people to free beneficial resources that can serve a purpose for them.
I started with Duke in March of 2019 as a Financial Care Counselor at Duke Eye Center. During that time, it was my responsibility to work with patients to resolve any financial barriers related to their healthcare. I am excited to be a part of the Duke PHMO team as a Care Coordinator. I have always had a passion to help people and my community. It’s exciting to be a part of a team that shares that same passion. In my spare time, I enjoy baking, binge watching shows, and spending time with my family.
I’ve obtained a BS in Health Care Management from Winston-Salem State University. I’ve worked in the healthcare field for several years in patient care coordinating roles including prosthetics and radiology. I love to engage with patients and serve as their advocate in tough situations. I strive to accomplish helping each individual get the proper care needed to treat the whole person.
I have worked in a OB-GYN office for 12 years. During that time, I took some billing classes and obtained my CPC license. I worked as a OB-GYN coder for 5 years and decided I wanted to have more patient contact, and that is why I decided to come to DukeWELL. I am a mom of two boys—one is a senior, and the other is in 8th grade. We keep very busy with sports and church.
I was born and raised in the Great Lake state and am very new to the Triangle area! I received my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Health Service at Western Michigan University, located in Kalamazoo, Michigan. I have worked in various health care settings during and after college. Specific areas include behavioral health, veteran care, and geriatric care. Ever since I was kid, I knew that I had wanted to help others in any way I could, so I am so excited to be working in a department that will allow me to continue following my passion.
