I have been a clinical nurse for a little over four years now. Prior to joining Duke, my primary unit was in the cardiac ICU. I recently graduated with my Master’s Degree in Nursing and am very excited to educate and advocate for others. Two of my favorite aspects of the work I do include helping others through showing them compassion and sharing my passion for caring for others with colleagues.
I am originally from Canada but have resided in North Carolina most of my adult life. I have a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, and throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse population of patients. Most of my nursing journey has been caring for critically ill patients in a large local hospital. I have also worked with patients who suffer from chronic wounds. My last role was as an inpatient Case Manager, which helped position me for this role with DukeWELL. My passion is assisting patients and families in navigating the healthcare system by providing the knowledge and resources they need to improve their lives. I am excited to be part of this team and will strive to make a positive impact to those I serve.
I have been employed in the Duke system for 16 years. I have worked in hospital case management/discharge planning for 20 years. I obtained my MSW from USC and worked in SC for several years. I was fortunate enough to be able to move back to NC to be closer to my family. I enjoy working with patients and their families to obtain needed resources and improve their health.
I am a North Carolina native—born and raised in Rocky Mount. I received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the illustrious North Carolina Central University (EAGLE PRIDE!!) in 2007. However, I have been in the healthcare field for over 22 years. I later received a Masters in Health Administration with a concentration in Leadership and Organizational Change from Pfeiffer University. I began my nursing career in the ICU at Durham Regional Hospital and gradually transitioned into the mental health/substance abuse sector where I have spent the bulk of my career. I have had the privilege of serving a diverse population—latency-age children, DJJ-involved adolescents, adults, and veterans—in various community based, residential, and inpatient care settings. I have held many administrative, management, and leadership roles; however, my passion lies in working closely with consumers to ensure that they have access to treatment and the appropriate resources which will aid them in maintaining their highest state of wellness.
I am from the Windy City—Chicago, IL. I completed my BSN at Metropolitan State University in Minnesota where I resided for 21 years. I have been a resident of NC for 8 years. I have been a nurse for 25 years. I am currently in school to receive my Doctorate in Nursing as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I love serving as a nurse!
I have more than 6 years of nursing experience in various health care settings. I love working with patients to provide excellent patient-centered, holistic care while helping them reach their goals. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and listening to music.
I lived in Nashville, TN until 2016 when we moved to Apex, NC. I have been a Case Manager at Duke since 2016. The majority of my nursing and case management career has centered around Pediatrics, primarily Pediatric Cardiology. As an inpatient Case Manager, I loved working with families and children to assist in a smooth hospital discharge and identifying resources in the community. I am excited to work with DukeWELL and continue to provide support to patients/families in the community.
I grew up in Michigan and have lived my last 14 years in North Carolina. I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker and received my Masters in Social Work from Michigan State University. I have over 20 years of experience working within the behavioral health system, including a variety of roles such as case management, therapist, and agency leadership. My passion lies in ensuring that individuals are provided with the highest quality, evidenced-based services that are available with a particular focus on equity and person-centered treatment.
Originally from Miami, Florida, I chose to officially call North Carolina home in 2013. I received my Bachelors Degrees in Sociology and Psychology from UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) and Masters from Columbia University School of Social Work. Throughout my career, I have worked with several diverse populations, including Child Protective Services, Intensive In-home Therapy, and Hospital Case Management with both adults and pediatric patients. I have been a part of the Duke University Health System for 3 years, and I look forward to continuing my journey while being an integral part in helping patients and their families navigate the health care system to be able to reach their identified health goals.
I am a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience in healthcare. I specialize in psychosocial assessments and emotional support for patients and their families. I enjoy making a difference in the community; even on the most challenging days there is always something to be proud of.
